The International Cricket Council has, on Tuesday, October 7, announced the nominees for the ICC Player of the Month awards for September 2025, and the list is packed with thrilling performers.
Young Indian opener Abhishek Sharma was unstoppable during the Asia Cup 2025, where he amassed 314 runs with the help of three fifties in seven T20Is at a staggering strike rate of 200. The left-handed batter’s aggressive batting at the top of the order helped India defend the title.

Abhishek Sharma was adjudged Player of the Tournament for his efforts in the Asia Cup 2025, and he achieved the highest-ever batting rating in men’s T20I history with an incredible 931 points to establish himself as one of the brightest talents in world cricket.

The second nominee for the ICC Player of the Month is another Indian, and he is the left-arm spin ace Kuldeep Yadav. The wrist-spinner claimed 17 wickets at an economy of 6.27 and finished the Asia Cup 2025 as the leading wicket-taker in the UAE.
Kuldeep’s stunning figures of 4/7 against the UAE and a match-winning 4/30 in the final against Pakistan put him in the race for the award.
Brian Bennett’s explosive form powers Zimbabwe to ICC T20 World Cup 2025
And the final nominee is Zimbabwe’s opener Brian Bennett, who also made his mark in September with his sensational performance in T20Is. Bennett amassed 497 runs in nine matches at an average of 55.22 and a strike rate of 165.66. His explosive form continued against Sri Lanka and Namibia.
Bennett carried that momentum into the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Regional Final, where he hit 72, 65, and 111 in his first three innings. Bennett’s consistency and clean hitting were pivotal in Zimbabwe securing qualification for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

Smriti Mandhana, Sidra Amin and Tazmin Brits in race for ICC Women’s Player of the Month for September 2025
Meanwhile, Indian opener Smriti Mandhana, Pakistan’s Sidra Amin, and South Africa’s Tazmin Brits have been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for September 2025 with their incredible performances in the white-ball games.
Smriti Mandhana had an impressive ODI series against Australia Women at home, scoring 308 runs in four matches at an average of 77 and a strike rate of 135.68. Her innings included scores of 58, 117, and 125 against Australia. After losing the first ODI, Mandhana’s century in the second ODI helped India beat Australia in the format for the first time since 2007.
Mandhana followed it with a breathtaking 50-ball century in the third and final ODI series decider, which India lost to the Australian side. However, it was the fastest by an Indian woman and the second quickest in women’s ODI history.
Sidra Amin and Tazmin Brits nominated for their performance in the Pakistan-South Africa series
Pakistan’s Sidra Amin was also sensational in the ODI series against South Africa, amassing 293 runs in three matches at an extraordinary average of 293. She scored unbeaten 121 and 122 in the first two games. In the final match, Sidra’s unbeaten 50 guided Pakistan to a big win over the Proteas.
The third and final nominee is South African batter Tazmin Brits. She impressed with 272 runs in two innings at a strike rate of 103.81. Brits’ back-to-back unbeaten centuries of 101 and 171 played a key role in South Africa’s 2-1 ODI series win over Pakistan.
