The Indian pair of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma continues to dominate the batting charts in the latest ODI rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday. Since less ODI cricket has been played in recent times, there aren’t many significant changes in the rankings.

Virat Kohli, who scored two half-centuries in the 3-match ODI series which India lost to Australia, remains at the helm of ODI rankings. The Indian captain also became the fastest (in terms of innings) to surpass the 12,000 run mark in 50-over cricket – in terms of run tally he sits at the sixth spot led by batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar.

Virat Kohli, who missed 3 Tests against Australia, will return to lead the side at home against England. The tour comprises 4 Tests, 5 T20Is, and 3 ODIs.

Rohit Sharma despite missing the ODI series against Australia owing to a hamstring injury remains at the second spot, however not far ahead of Pakistan’s skipper, Babar Azam, who is just 5 points behind the Indian opener. Azam made increments in his rating points after his century and a half-century in the home series against Zimbabwe.

Jasprit Bumrah on the third position in ICC bowler’s ranking

Indian spearhead pacer, Jasprit Bumrah sits at the third spot in the bowler’s list; Kiwi seamer, Trent Boult leads the bowling charts followed by Afghanistan’s mystery spinner, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Bangladesh’s off-spinner, Mehidy Hasan has climbed 9 spots, leapfrogging the likes of Chris Woakes, Kagiso Rabada, and Pat Cummins to attain the fourth position in the bowling tally. Mehidy Hasan snared 7 wickets in the home series against West Indies – Bangladesh clean swept the visitors by 3-0.

Another player from the Virat Kohli-led outfit to feature in the top 10 is all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja. However, southpaw slipped from 7th to the 8th spot in the all-rounder’s ranking. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan has overtaken Jadeja to move up to the 6th spot also pushing down New Zealand’s Colin de Grandhomme.

Former Bangladesh captain, Shakib Al Hasan ruled the all-rounder’s chart despite being away from the game for a year. He made his international return in the series against West Indies and immediately bagged a Man of the Match award.

Ireland’s Paul Stirling gained eight slots to jump to 20th place. He scored 285 runs, including two centuries in 3 matches, against Afghanistan.
