International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the groups for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The dates for the tournament were announced earlier. The tournament will be conducted in UAE and Oman from October 17 to November 14 and will be hosted by the Indian cricket board BCCI. There are 16 teams that are part of the tournament.

Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, Namibia are part of Group A while Bangladesh, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, and Oman are part of Group B. These 8 teams will compete in Round 1 and the top two teams from each group will join the rest 8 teams in the Super 12s round.

England, Australia, South Africa, and West Indies are part of Group 1 while India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Afghanistan are part of Group 2. These teams have already qualified for the Super 12s round. After the Super 12s round, the top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the semi-final of ICC T20 World Cup 2021. 4. England

England is the first team that can qualify for the semi-finals in ICC T20 World Cup 2021. England is part of Group 1 along with Australia, South Africa, and the West Indies. Since the start of 2020, the 2019 ODI World Champions have showcased a great performance in T20Is.

Since 2020, the Eoin Morgan-led side has played 6 T20I series, winning 4 of them. One T20I series against Pakistan ended in a draw 1-1. England’s only loss came against India (2-3) in an away tour in Match this year. In the last 10 T20I games, England has won 7 games and lost 3.

3. West Indies

West Indies is the 2nd team in the list. West Indies is part of Group 1 and along with England, West Indies is also highly expected to qualify for the semi-final during ICC T20 World Cup 2021. West Indies has been the dominating team in the T20I cricket. They won the previous edition of the ICC T20 World Cup in 2016.

Since 2020, West Indies has played 6 T20I series. They have won 3 series, including the ongoing 5-match T20I series against Australia which they already lead 3-1. West Indies lost to New Zealand and South Africa while their one series against Ireland ended in a draw. In the last 10 T20I games, West Indies has won 6 and lost 4 matches.

2. New Zealand

New Zealand is the 4th team that can qualify for the semi-finals in ICC T20 World Cup 2021. New Zealand is part of Group 2 with teams like India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan in the pool. Since 2020, New Zealand has played 5 bilateral T20I series and has won 4 of them. They defeated West Indies, Pakistan, Australia, and Bangladesh in their previous T20I series. Their only loss since 2020 came against India.

If we take a look at New Zealand’s last 10 T20I games, they have won 7 games and lost only 3. Moreover, New Zealand has always been a powerful team in ICC tournaments. They won the ICC World Test Championship 2021 title and finished as runners-up in the last two ODI World Cups.

India has played their last 6 bilateral T20I series against Bangladesh, West Indies, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Australia, and England and won each of them. In their last 10 T20I games, India has won 7 games and lost only 3. So Virat Kohli-led Indian side is another powerful team in the forthcoming ICC tournament and can reach the semi-finals.
