Bangladesh’s fast bowler Ebadot Hossain is all set to remain out of action until next June and has been ruled out of the ICC T20 World Cup next year in the USA and West Indies. He suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury earlier in July during the ODI series against Afghanistan at home.

The Bangla Tigers had to play without the paceer during their poor performances in the 50-over Asia Cup 2023 followed by the ICC Cricket World Cup in India. Ebadot Hossain was a key part of Bangladesh’s setup before sustaining the ACL injury and getting ruled out of the back-to-back major tournaments.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as a result had to name Tanzim Hasan Sakib as his replacement for the World Cup and Asia Cup. Shakib Al-Hasan‘s side were out of the Asia Cup 2023 from the Super 4 stage and went on to finish in the 8th position of the CWC league table with just 2 wins to their name in 9 matches.

But the recent setback of Ebadot Hossain will increase tension further as Bangladesh prepare for the T20 World Cup next year. If the Asia Cup and World Cup were difficult, the T20 WC in the USA and West Indies is going to be an even tougher challenge as it will be a 20-team event.

With more teams and more competition, the subcontinent side will have to make sure they perform well in the next 6 months, building up to the World Cup.

BCB Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu Confirms Ebadot Hossain To Return In August-September

“Ebadot is likely to start from next season. He might return with the domestic cricket in August-September. We received such an update,” Minhajul said, as quoted by Cricfrenzy.

The ACL injury which Ebadot Hossain is not able to recover from was sustained against Afghanistan in July 2023. With his CWC participation hanging on the edge, he was sent to a 6-week intensive rehabilitation program after his MRI scans showed alarming signs.

BCB’s Chief Sport Physicist had confirmed about Ebadot’s absence from the Asia Cup last year with a statement that read, “Ebadot had undergone six weeks of rehab following the injury. We have had multiple MRIs done during this time. The reports suggest that his ACL is still a concern and requires further management. Therefore, he misses out on the Asia Cup.”

The 29-year-old was sent abroad for treatment as well but the Sylhet-born Pacer is not returning until the start of Bangladesh’s domestic season in August-September. Ebadot Hossain has picked up 42 wickets in 20 Test matches for the Bangla Tigers and has 22 wickets in 12 ODIs.

In the shortest format, Hossain has accounted for 7 wickets in 4 matches. What’s more outstanding is his First class record in Bangladesh’s domestic circuit where he has picked up 138 wickets in 50 matches.
