ICC T20 World Cup 2024- "If India Beats Australia In T20 World Cup, It Will Improve My State Of Mind"- Sanjay Manjrekar

India suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia. Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar wants India to defeat Australia in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 just for the sake of revenge. Australia won the ODI World Cup title for the sixth time in history and extended their existing record of the most World Cup titles by a nation in cricket.

Rohit Sharma and company were on a 10-match winning streak but they failed to win the finals against Australia. It has been 11 years since India has won an ICC trophy with their last win coming in the 2013 Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni’s leadership. The Men in Blue will get another opportunity this year when they will take part in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled in June 2024.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar wants the Men in Blue to beat Australia in the T20 World Cup to take revenge for the heartbreaking loss in the finals. He jokingly said that if India beats Australia in the T20 World Cup it will help his state of mind as it took him some therapy and a lot of time to recover from the defeat against Australia in the ODI World Cup finals.

Sanjay Manjrekar said, “I want to see India beat Australia for a simple reason- it will just help my state of mind truly. After that loss, we were there watching it live. It took a couple of weeks of long therapy for me to get back to this work. The therapy is complete but if India beats Australia in that World Cup I don’t think I’ll need it anymore. So it’s very important for India to beat Australia and then England as well.”

The wait has been going on for 11 years and they have got another chance to get their hands on an ICC trophy. The Indian team has been getting knocked out on crucial stages in ICC events. They were knocked out of the T20 World Cup semi-finals in 2022 by England.

The Men in Blue will have another opportunity in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to win an ICC title. If they can beat Australia and England then the revenge of the last two heartbreaks would be completed as well.
