Harshit Rana has made an impressive start to his ODI career since breaking into the Indian team in 2025. The right-arm fast bowler has played 14 ODIs so far, picking up 26 wickets at an average of 27.38 and an economy rate of 6.21. His strike rate of 26.4 highlights his ability to provide breakthroughs at regular intervals, while his best figures of 4/39 came against Australia earlier this year.
The 23-year-old has already shown that he can deliver against some of the strongest batting line-ups in world cricket. His standout performances have come against Australia, where he has claimed six wickets in three matches at an average of just 20.83, including his maiden four-wicket haul in ODI cricket.
Harshit has also enjoyed success against Bangladesh and England. He picked up 3/31 against Bangladesh in his only ODI against them, while six wickets in three matches against England further underlined his growing reputation in white-ball cricket.
Against New Zealand, Rana has taken six wickets in three ODIs, while he has also represented India against Pakistan and South Africa. Although his returns against South Africa have been relatively modest, with four wickets in three matches, the young pacer remains one of India's most promising fast-bowling options heading into the future.
India leading the series against Afghanistan 2-0
India have already bagged the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan after registering convincing wins in the opening two matches.
The first ODI in Dharamsala saw India chase down 195 in a rain-curtailed 25-over contest. Despite Rahmanullah Gurbaz smashing a sensational 102 off just 51 balls, Afghanistan were bowled out for 194. India responded strongly through Shubman Gill, who remained unbeaten on 84, while Ishan Kishan contributed 34 and KL Rahul finished the chase with a quickfire 39 not out. India eventually secured a comfortable seven-wicket victory with 13 balls remaining.
The second ODI in Lucknow was even more one-sided. India piled up a massive 402 after centuries from captain Shubman Gill (154) and Ishan Kishan (125). Their 224-run partnership completely took the game away from Afghanistan. In reply, Afghanistan were bowled out for 232 despite Rahmat Shah's fighting 79, handing India a dominant 170-run victory.
With back-to-back wins in Dharamsala and Lucknow, India now hold an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series and will be aiming for a clean sweep in the final ODI. Gill has been the standout performer with scores of 84* and 154, while India's bowling unit has consistently delivered at crucial moments throughout the series.
