Former England captain Michael Vaughan feels that Delhi Capitals' young Australian batting prospect Jake Fraser-McGurk is definitely going with the Aussie team to the USA and West Indies. After seeing his quickfire 60+ knock at the Arun Jaitley stadium against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Vaughan feels that McGurk has proved himself very well in his first few matches of the season. That he is going to be a part of Australia in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The Baggy Greens, who defeated Rohit Sharma's Men in Blue twice in an ICC Cup final last year, have a golden opportunity to become World Champions across all formats of the game. This will be a historic feat to achieve for the Australians who are anyways known for creating and then breaking world records. Though they have a couple of senior players in their team, the presence of Jake Fraser-McGurk will given them assurance that there is someone who can bat fearlessly from the word go.

Ever since breaking into the scene as the fastest-ever centurion in cricketing history off just 29 balls during a domestic ODI game, Jake Fraser-McGurk has been nothing less than breathtaking. His ability to send the ball to the stands has got everyone excited about his gameplay with many calling him the next big-hitting thing of World cricket. His arrival in the IPL was bound to happen and him taking the spotlight was also somewhere written on the stars.

Will Michael Vaughan's prediction about Jake Fraser-McGurk prove right?

For Michael Vaughan's prophecy to prove right, it will require Jake Fraser-McGurk to play a few more innings as he played against SRH last night in front of home supporters. The South Australian came on to bat at number 3 after the dismissal of Prithvi Shaw as Delhi were chasing down a mammoth 266 runs, which they had put up through Travis Head's 89 off 32, Abhishek Sharma's 46 off 12, Nitish Kumar Reddy's 37 off 27, Shahbaz Ahmed's 59 off 28 and Abdul Samad's 13 off 8.

In the first over, Shaw had smashed 4 boundaries in a row but in the last ball of the over from Washington Sundar, Shaw was all ends up. Then Jake Fraser-McGurk began his short-lived raging knock. He came in with the lethal Kookaburra in his hands and smashed a vicious 62-run knock off just 18 balls at a strike rate of 361. His bat swing was looking exquisite but in the end, his weakness against spin bowling saw Mayak Markande claim his wicket following a carnage which included 7 sixes and 5 fours.

He had set the tone for batters down the order but 267 was never going to be chased out by Delhi. The home team eventually crashed out for 199 and suffered another jolting 67-run loss which also negatively affected their net run rate.

Australia's schedule for the T20 World Cup 2024

Meanwhile, after IPL 2024's conclusion on 26th May, the ICC T20 World Cup will begin exactly 6 days later. Australia will begin their WC campaign from June 5 onwards. They will face Oman in their opening game in Barbados, arch-rivals England on June 8 at the same venue before taking on Namibia in Antigua on June 11 and their last group game will be against Scotland on 15th June at St. Lucia.
