ICC T20 World Cup 2024: New York City Legislator Requests ICC To Hold T20 WC 2024 In US

In a meeting, a New York City legislator urged the ICC committee to host the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in the United States of America and said that New York is the home to the largest South Asian committee and it would be a dream come true for the supporters in the USA to see their idols play.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, Jenifer Rajkumar the New York legislator said that New York is the home to several communities that love to watch cricket and it will be a dream come true for them if the T20 World Cup 2024 is held in New York.
“Our City is home to the largest South Asian community in the Western Hemisphere, along with significant West Indian, British, Australian, New Zealander, Emirati, and African Diaspora communities. Every World Cup team enjoys a dedicated fan base in New York City, and the prospect of witnessing their favorite cricketers live in action would truly be a dream come true,” Jenifer Rajkumar said to the ICC committee while urging them to host T20 World Cup 2024 in New York.
Jenifer Rajkumar said that as the first Indian American woman elected to the NY, it is her job to make popular cricket in the city.
“As the first Indian American woman elected to the New York State Office, I see firsthand the remarkable popularity of cricket in the South Asian American community. I’ve attended numerous cricket matches as Assemblywoman and helped pass a historic resolution for the New York State Athletic Commission to sanction cricket within our State,” she said.
New York is the ideal host of the World Cup: Eric Adams on hosting T20 World Cup 2024
New York City Mayor Eric Adams said that NY is the epicenter of cricket in the United of America and it is the ideal place to host the T20 World Cup 2024.
“As the epicenter of cricket in the United States, New York is the ideal host of the World Cup. We are home to an estimated 100 cricket clubs, boast 59 cricket grounds, and numerous leagues. Even the New York Police Department (NYPD) operates its own youth cricket league. New York City also proudly boasts the oldest continuous cricket club in America, Staten Island Cricket Club, which was founded in 1872,” City Mayor Eric Adams said.
The upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 is set to take place in the West Indies and the USA. A few days back an ICC committee visited the country to take a thorough look at the potential stadiums that are capable of hosting the Twenty20 World Cup in 2024 and New York is among the states which are likely to host matches.
In 2021, Australia won the last T20 World Cup in Dubai after beating New Zealand by eight wickets.
