ICC T20 World Cup Clash Between India And Pakistan To Be Hosted In New York, Schedule To Be Announced Soon

The India Vs Pakistan clash at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will be hosted in a pop-up stadium on the outskirts of New York City. The clash between the two rival nations will be the showpiece occasion of the group stage round. The full schedule is due to be signed off by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the local organizing committees today.

India and Pakistan alongside eight other teams will play their first group-stage match in the USA which is co-hosting the tournament with the West Indies. The organizers are in a hope to cater to America’s large, cricket-loving expat communities.

There is a possibility of some changes in the schedule but defending champions England and ODI Champions Australia will play all their group-stage matches in the Caribbean. It is understood that England’s games both in their initial, five-team group and, in the Super 8 round(if they qualify) will all be in the British tourist hotspots of Barbados, Antigua, and St Lucia. However, the Australians will visit some of the region’s other venues, in St Vincent, Trinidad, and Guyana.

ICC Inspectors Have Been Visiting The Caribbean Venues

The ICC inspectors have been visiting the Caribbean venues over the last few weeks, finishing in Guyana this week. Though they found that some expansion and improvement are still necessary, they have uncovered no significant issues that can hinder the tournament’s smooth flow. The venue for the final has not been confirmed but it is likely to be in Barbados as the venue has previously hosted the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 and the ICC T20 World Cup 2010.

The USA has confirmed they will use only three venues i.e., Central Broward Park in Florida, Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas, and Eisenhower Park on Long Island in Manhattan. The first two are dedicated cricket grounds, while a temporary, 34,000-seat stadium will be constructed for the tournament in New York. NYC has around 7,11,000 Indian residents and about 1,00,000 people of Pakistani origin according to the latest census data.

The time difference between New York and New Delhi is around 10 hours so the organizers have agreed to schedule India’s matches in the morning hours to serve the Indian television audiences better. India and Pakistan is a highly anticipated clash and the viewership is massive for any broadcaster.
