China registered their lowest-ever total in the T20 format as Malaysia bowled them out for a paltry total of 23 before chasing down the total with a staggering 91 balls remaining. As many as six batters from China could not open their account while none of the 11 players could reach the double-digit mark as they were all out for 23 in 11.2 overs.
Opener Wei Guo Lei top-scored for China, scoring 7. The Chinese team did not lose any wickets in the first four overs before losing 4 in the fifth over against right-arm pacer Syazrul Idrus. Idrus went on to finish the game with stunning figures of seven wickets for just eight runs in his four overs while Pavandeep Singh picked up 2 for 9 in his four overs.
In reply, Malaysia made a poor start with the bat too, and lost both of their openers Syed Aziz and Muhammad Amir for a duck. However, Sharveen Surendran and Virandeep Singh shared an unbeaten stand of 21 runs to take their team home in the fifth over.
