England national cricket team made giant strides in the ICC World Test championship points table following a significant outing in the four-match Test series against South Africa. The visitors beat the hosts by a massive margin of 191 runs in the final test to win the series by 3-1. Notably, their positive results escalated them in the championship points table.

Joe Root-led team came under fire recently after they lost the two-match Test series by a margin of 0-1 in New Zealand. They were already under tremendous pressure when they flew to South Africa. However, the Three Lions ended the Test series on a good note and are now sitting third at the points table with 146 points.

On the other end, it turned out to be a disappointing series for South Africa as they succumbed to a humiliating defeat at the hands of England at home. They have been deducted 6 points for slow over rate in the final test and are now carrying an infamous record in this Test championship as they are placed seventh in the points table with just one win and six defeats in the seven matches that they have played so far.

They had a good chance to improve their rankings at home. However, they failed to do so. Virat Kohli-led team who are ranked No.1 in the ICC World Test Championship points table are the only side to have not lost even a single game so far.

Having played seven games, India have won all of them and have garnered as many as 360 points, which is the most by any side in this format.
