ICC Test Rankings: Rohit Sharma Highest-Ranked Indian Batsman, Virat Kohli Fails To Enter Top 10

After putting up impressive displays against West Indies in the recently-concluded two-match Test series, India stars have made significant gains in the latest ICC Test Rankings, released by the ICC on Wednesday (July 26).

The Rohit Sharma-led side won the two-match series 1-0 after the second Test ended in a draw. India won the first Test by an innings and 141 runs and were looking set to win the second game too before rain washed out the entire final day.

Talking about the ICC Test Rankings, Mohammed Siraj has made a significant gain in the bowlers’ list after taking a career-best 5 for 60 in the first innings of the second Test at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. The right-arm pacer achieved career-high ratings and has jumped six places to the 33rd spot.

Opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has also made a big gain in the ICC Test Rankings. The youngster followed up his century on debut with knocks of 57 and 38. Thanks to his consistent display, he has jumped 10 places to sit at the 63rd spot.

ICC Test Rankings:

Among batters, New Zealand star Kane Williamson continues to sit at the top of the ICC Test Rankings while Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are the number one in the bowlers and allrounders’ list respectively. In the batting list, India skipper Rohit Sharma is the highest-ranked Indian batsman.

He is at the tenth spot followed by Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli at 12th and 14th position respectively. Kohli scored a sublime century in the second Test but still could not manage to return to the top ten. Australia star Marnus Labuschagne has also moved up in the rankings.

The right-handed batsman rose three places to second overall after his century in the fourth Ashes Test while England trio Joe Root (up three spots to third), Harry Brook (up two places to 11th) and Zak Crawley (up 13 places to 35th) have also moved up.
