ICC Test Rankings: Virat Kohli Dominates Batting Charts; Ben Stokes Enters Top 10

The latest ICC Test Rankings for batsmen were updated on Friday (January 24) and it was no surprise as far as the top two spots are concerned. Team India skipper Virat Kohli dominated the batting charts in the list of Test batsmen rankings. With 928 points to his name, stands on top of the list and Steven Smith follows next with 911 points.
Meanwhile, Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne moved up the ladder from the fourth spot to take the third spot in the ICC Test rankings. He gained one position in the wake of a sensational double-hundred against New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) that helped Australia register a 279-run victory.
The win also gave the Aussies a series win by 3-0, completing an unbeaten summer. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson’s position remains unchanged as he is placed fourth in the rankings with 814 points.
Besides, David Warner climbed two spots up to take the fifth spot, thanks to his overall tally of 297 runs in the three-match series against New Zealand.
India’s Cheteshwar Pujara takes the sixth spot and Ajinkya Rahane gained a spot and is now sitting at the eighth spot in the latest rankings. Rahane’s rise was witnessed during the two-match Test series against Bangladesh where he scored 86 and 51 in the first and second Test respectively.
Ben Stokes enters top ten in ICC Test rankings:
England’s Ben Stokes moved to the 10th spot after his stupendous performance in the Port Elizabeth Test against South Africa. He is placed 29th among bowlers and second in the list of all-rounders just behind West Indies’ Jason Holder. Ben Stokes scored 47 and 72 in Cape Town that saw him make a jump from 15th to 10th. His previous best was ninth.
As far as bowlers’ list is concerned, Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins retained the first place while Neil Wagner and Holder are placed second and third in the list. South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada and Australia pace spearhead Mitchell Starc follow next on the list. India’s gun fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah sits at the sixth spot.
Coming to the all-rounder’s list, India’s Ravindra Jadeja is placed at third ahead of South Africa all-rounder Vernon Philander, who is currently playing his last Test for South Africa in Johannesburg. India’s Ravichandran Ashwin, who is ranked eighth in bowlers’ list is placed fifth in all-rounder rankings.
