ICC Women's ODI Player Of The Year 2021: South Africa's Lizelle Lee, England's Tammy Beaumont And West Indies' Hayley Matthews Picked As Three Nominees

International Cricket Council have announced their three nominees for ICC Women’s Player of The Year For 2021. ICC have named South African cricketer Lizelle Lee, England cricketer Tammy Beaumont, and West Indies player Hayley Matthews as the final three nominees.

The above three players have given impressive performances throughout the year in ODIs and managed to earn the ICC’s nod to become the final nominees for the award. Now, one among these players will win ICC Women’s ODI Player Of the Year 2021 award. No Indian women player or Australian player managed to make up in the final list.

ICC Names Three Nominees Of ODI Player Of The Year 2021

Lizelle Lee is a 29-year-old batter who plays as an opener for South Africa. She played 11 ODIs in the year 2021. She slammed 632 runs at an average of 90.28 and a strike rate of 79.0. She also slammed 5 half-centuries and 1 century during the year.

She slammed an unbeaten 132-run knock in an ODI against India women in March 2021, which was her highest knock during the year. She played many incredible knocks in the ODI series against Pakistan, India, and West Indies.

Tammy Beaumont is a wicket-keeper batter who bats right-handed. She also bats as an opener for England. She played 11 ODIs in 2021, smashing 503 runs at an average of 62.87 and strike rate of 77.02. She also smacked 1 century and 4 half-centuries during the year.

Beaumont came up with some outstanding performances against New Zealand and India during the year. One of her iconic performances was three 70-plus knocks against New Zealand in three back-to-back ODIs. Out of these, there were two unbeaten knocks. Her highest knock was 102 runs, which she slammed in her last ODI against New Zealand in September 2021.

Hayley Matthews is also an opening batter who plays for West Indies. The 23-year-old is a right-handed batter. In 2021, she scored 380 runs in 14 ODIs at an average of 29.23 and a strike rate of 64.40. She also slammed 1 century and 1 fifty during the year. Matthews played a few brilliant knocks against Pakistan and South Africa ODI series.
