Aakash Chopra spoke about Prithvi Shaw’s recent knee injury in County Cricket with Northamptonshire due to which his cricket stint in England had to be cut short and said that another seat will get booked at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

While speaking on his official YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra showed mercy for Shaw since he went to play cricket in England and was doing well before getting injured. Chopra added that after a lot of criticism, he came back in form and made runs.

“It seemed like Prithvi Shaw had turned a corner. He had gone to play county cricket and was trying to do well there. He got out hit-wicket in an odd fashion at the start, so there was a lot of criticism, people keep talking nonsense, but after that, he hit a lot,” said Chopra.

Chopra also said that Prithvi Shaw’s tour in England is now over and soon another seat will be booked at the NCA.

“He batted extremely well but now he has got a knee injury. When everything was going fine, he was scoring runs, he injured his knee and now he will be heading home. His tour is over and another seat will get booked in the NCA, that’s what it seems,” Chopra added.

The 45-year-old mentioned Shaw’s stats and said that the 23-year-old played a total of four matches and scored 429 runs at an average of 143 and that he also had a strike rate of 152.

“When he was playing, he was hitting a lot. He played four matches in total, in which he scored 429 runs at an average of 143. He struck two centuries of which one was a double century. He had a strike rate of 152, with a highest of 244. I watched an innings where he was hitting boundaries with ease,” the 45-year-old further added.

In the One-day Cup in England, Prithvi Shaw is the highest run-scorer in the league as he has scored 429 runs with a stupendous strike rate of 152.67. A few days back, Shaw expressed his dream to win the ICC World Cup for India. However, since he has been injured the player won’t be able to feature in the upcoming ODI World Cup squad for the Men in Blue.

Rohit Sharma-led India will start their ODI World Cup voyage against Australia on October 8th at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
