Former England cricketer, Eoin Morgan heaped praise on Liam Livingstone ahead of the most prestigious tournament, the ODI World Cup 2023, and said that the 30-year-old English player will play a crucial role for the England side in the extravaganza tournament.

In the ODI format, Liam Livingstone made his debut against India in 2021 and went on to feature in 14 matches where he scored 397 runs with a strike rate of 123.29. The English batsman has also been included in the ODI Word Cup 2023 squad and will make a huge impact for the Three Lions.

England’s provisional squad for the World Cup 2023: Jos Buttler (captain), Moeen Ali, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes.

Liam Livingstone played his last 50-over match in the second ODI match against New Zealand. In the first inning, Livingstone played a 95-run knock from 78 balls with a strike rate of 121.79 and helped England clinch a 79-run win against the Kiwis.

His current form will help the Three Lions to strengthen their middle order before the start of the ODI World Cup 2023.

While speaking on Sky Sports, Eoin Morgan praised Liam Livingstone and said that he is a smart player and will be a key part of the 50-over format.

Morgan further added that on the field he is good and Livingstone’s ability to bowl with both finger spin makes him unique from others.

“He is a smart cricketer. He is a key part of this 50-over team because of his all-round ability. In the field, he is unbelievably good and his ability to bowl both finger spin and wrist spin makes him a dead cert to play every game,” Eoin Morgan said.

During the post-match presentation of the second ODI match between England and New Zealand, Livingstone applauded the team and said that the team should be proud of the depth they got in the side.

“We got a lot of depth, something that we pride ourselves on. It has been a frustrating year for me. I pride myself on adaptability. I was looking forward to this series to spend some time in the middle. I just needed one innings. sometimes you can overthink just felt I needed time in the middle,” Livingstone said.

In the inaugural match of the ODI World Cup, England will lock horns against New Zealand on October 5th at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
