ICC World Cup 2023: Happy To Have Two Options Fighting For Wicketkeeper Spot - Ajit Agarkar

BCCI announced the India squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Tuesday. For wicketkeepers, KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan were picked in the squad. BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar said that they were happy to have two options fighting for the wicketkeeper spot.
Rishabh Pant is the primary wicketkeeper for India. Since he was not available for the ICC World Cup 2023 due to recovery from a road accident, Team India needed a powerful player to replace him. KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan have shown marvellous form in ODIs and they have been picked for in final World Cup squad.
Happy To Have Two Options Fighting For Wicketkeeper Spot: Ajit Agarkar
During the World Cup squad announcement, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar said that the team was happy to have two options fighting for the wicketkeeper spot.
“There will be a conversation. It’s a good headache. We are happy to have 2 options who will fight for a place in the team,” Ajit Agarkar said.
KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan have been two outstanding performers for India in the wicketkeeper’s slot. Ishan Kishan showed a marvellous form against West Indies in the ODI series.
He slammed the fifties in all three games and won the Player of the Series award. The left-handed batsman also scored a wonderful knock of 82 runs in the recent IND vs PAK clash of Asia Cup 2023.
Taking about KL Rahul, the right-handed batter has also shown wonderful form in ODIs. He played match-winning knocks for India and also executed a wonderful job behind the stumps in ODIs. However, he was out of the field for a few months due to a thigh surgery and recently made a comeback.

ICC World Cup 2023 begins on October 5. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Australia, New Zealand, England, South Africa, and Netherlands are 10 teams part of the tournament.
