ICC World Cup 2023: Haris Rauf Fit To Play In Tournament- Reports

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that pacer Haris Rauf will be available to play for Pakistan in ICC World Cup 2023. Haris Rauf recently encountered an injury during Asia Cup 2023.

The right-arm pacer played against India on Day 1 of the super four clash. However, when the match resumed on the next reserve day, Rauf was rested due to a niggle. He was later ruled out of Asia Cup 2023.

Due to Haris Rauf’s injury, there were doubts about his absence from the ICC World Cup 2023 which starts next month. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has clarified that the right-arm pacer will be available for the tournament.

According to a Cricbuzz report, PCB officials have revealed that Rauf only has pain in his cage. Due to the issue, he had to be rested in the Asia Cup 2023. Rauf was also not part of the must-win game against Sri Lanka, which Pakistan lost by 2 wickets.

The 29-year-old pacer has been a standout performer in ODIs this year. In 13 games, he has hunted 24 wickets at an average of 23.04. He has also picked 1 our-wicket haul and 1 five-wicket haul.

In Asia Cup 2023, Rauf played 4 matches and hunted 9 wickets at an impressive average of 13.33. His economy stood at 4.80. After Shaheen Afridi (10 wickets), Rauf was the highest wicket-taker for the side.

ICC World Cup 2023 begins on October 5 in India. Pakistan will play its first match against the Netherlands on October 6 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Pakistan failed to reach the Asia Cup 2023 final. Out of three games in the Super Four round, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets. However, they lost to India by 228 runs and Sri Lanka by 2 wickets. In Asia Cup 2023 final, India and Sri Lanka will battle against each other.
