Former Indian skipper Kapil Dev seems unhappy with Team India’s World Cup schedule. The former Indian skipper has warned the BCCI to look after their players as they will endure some hectic traveling during the World Cup which might impact their performance.

The ICC World Cup 2023 will be played from October 5 to November 19. The matches will be played across 10 venues with India likely to play at all the major venues across India. The Men in Bleu will be playing nine league games in nine different venues namely, Chennai, Pune, Dharamsala, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Delhi, Lucknow, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.

The former Indian skipper lashed out at the BCCI for the hectic travel that the Indian players will need to undergo during the World Cup.

“I don’t know. When you perform as good as that, it’s the right board, nothing wrong. But the right board also needs to improve. If I show you the fixture I have seen today, India is playing 11 matches and the amount of travelling they have to do… who made that fixture? Now, how can I look after my team when they are playing in India?” said Kapil on The Week.

I Would Have A Chartered Flight For My Team: Kapil Dev

He further suggested that if he was the Board President he would have arranged chartered flights for the Indian team.

“You are going to Dharamshala, then to Bengaluru, to Kolkata… playing in nine different places. Somebody asked me, and I said, ‘If I were the board president, I would have a chartered flight for my team.’ I want them to give their best performance on the field. These are the things the board has to do,” he added.

The Indian team is currently in West Indies playing an ODI series. They will then play a five-match T20I series. The team will then fly to Ireland for a three-match T20I series ahead of the Asia Cup and World Cup events.
