ICC World Cup 2023: India vs Pakistan Clash To Be Rescheduled As Major Security Concerns Highlighted by Agencies

Much-awaited India vs Pakistan match at the ICC World Cup 2023 is likely to be rescheduled. The much-anticipated World Cup 2023 is scheduled to be played from October 5 to November 19.

In the opening clash of the tournament, reigning world champions England will take on New Zealand in a repeat of last World Cup’s final. The match will be taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Pakistan and India, on the other hand, will be opening their campaigns on October 6 and 8 respectively.

Pakistan will be up against the Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad in their tournament opener while India will be taking on five-time world champions Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to start their World Cup campaign.

India vs Pakistan clash to be rescheduled:

The forthcoming edition of the World Cup will be a thrilling spectacle, featuring a total of 48 games played over the course of 46 action-packed days. Among these matches, one that fans around the world are eagerly awaiting is the epic showdown between arch-rivals India and Pakistan.

As per the original schedule announced by the ICC last month, the much-awaited clash between India and Pakistan was to take place on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the game is reportedly set to be rescheduled.

The game will clash with the first day of Navratri, the biggest festival of Gujarat that sees huge participation of the mass in garba functions across the state. And the security agencies have advised the BCCI to tweak the itinerary, according to the Indian Express.

“We are mulling the options that we have and a decision will be taken soon. We have been told by the security agencies that a high-profile game like India vs Pakistan, for which thousands of traveling fans are expected to reach Ahmedabad, should be avoided since they will be stretched because of Navratri,” a top BCCI official told the news outlet.

In case, the BCCI decides to reschedule the India vs Pakistan clash, it could pose a logistical nightmare for the fans. As per recent reports from Ahmedabad, most of the hotels as well as the homestays are booked. The fans reportedly paid a huge amount to book the rooms for the clash between India and Pakistan.
