ICC World Cup 2023: Najam Sethi Rubbishes Unrest Rumours In Pakistan Team, Says 'Don’t Spread Negativity'

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has rubbished media reports about unrest inside the Pakistan team. Najam Sethi also said that media and fans should refrain from spreading negativity.

After Pakistan’s ouster from Asia Cup 2023, there were talks about unrest in the Pakistan dressing room. According to media reports, Shaheen Afridi and Babar Azam had a verbal fight in the dressing room.

According to reports, Babar Azam questioned the role of senior players in the team after the loss to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023. Shaheen Afridi asked him not to generalize everybody and praise those who did well. To this, the Pakistan skipper replied that he is aware of who is doing well and who is not.

Don’t Spread Negativity: Najam Sethi

Reacting to such rumors, former PCB chief Najam Sethi took to X (formerly Twitter) to rubbish rumors about unrest in the Pakistan team. He also urged fans to support the team and not spread negatively.

“Plenty of angry talk on social media about PAK Team – groupings etc – blaming cricketers and team management staff. But Babar, Shadab, Shaheen, Fakhar, Rizwan, Naseem, etc all are champion cricketers.

They have a very able team management to support them. Come On, Pakistanis! Rally behind the team, don’t spread negativity! GO TEAM PAKISTAN!” Sethi wrote on X. Have a look at the post below.

Najam Sethi also bashed the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and BCCI when rain affected some games of Asia Cup 2023. He lashed out at them for not listening to his demand to conduct the entire tournament in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is out of the race for the Asia Cup 2023 final. Pakistan lost their must-win match against Sri Lanka by 2 wickets. As a result, they were eliminated from the tournament.

Earlier, Pakistan lost to India by 228 runs in the Super Four round. They won their opening game against Bangladesh. However, one victory was not enough to grab a spot in Asia Cup 2023 final.

In Asia Cup 2023 final, India and Sri Lanka will wrestle with each other. The Asia Cup 2023 final is scheduled to be played on Sunday, September 17. The venue of the  IND vs SL encounter is R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
