Against many odds and after overcoming strong sides like Zimbabwe and West Indies, Scott Edwards-led Dutch side are set to travel to India to play in the World Cup.

The Netherlands booked their spot in the upcoming World Cup after defeating Scotland in a must-win World Cup qualifier match in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

Bas de Leede, who was the Man of the Match against Scotland showcased a stunning performance in both the innings. The all-rounder took five wickets and scored 123 runs to secure a four-wicket win.

Following their win against Scotland, the Netherlands Cricket Board said that they deserve to travel to India to play the upcoming ODI World Cup since they have shown a fighting spirit in the World Cup Qualifier matches.

“What a fantastic performance this Dutch team has achieved! Beforehand, qualification in the midst of so many Full Members seemed like a hopeless mission. The Orange bellied all the doomsayers with brilliant game plans and unprecedented fighting spirit and deserved to make it to the final tournament,” the Dutch cricket official website said of the achievement.

The Netherlands will start their World Cup 2023 campaign in India on October 6th against Pakistan at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. This will be their fifth participation in an ICC ODI World Cup.
