ICC World Cup 2023: Pakistan Government To Seek Assurance From ICC Over Team's Security In India - Reports

Pakistan’s Government is all set to seek a security assurance from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the Babar Azam-led side’s security in India for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as per the reports in RevSportz. The tournament will be played from 5th October to 19th November.
This comes after the high-profile committee set by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met on Thursday (3rd August). The commitment headed by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto supposedly are concerned about the team’s security in India and wants a written guarantee from the ICC.
Reports in various media outlets suggested that Pakistan Government will be sending a security delegation to the neighboring country before taking a final call for the team participation in the marquee tournament. Of late there have been a lot of concerns about Men in Green’s availability for the World Cup in India due to the political tensions between the two nations.
As per the schedule of the ICC World Cup, Pakistan will be playing their matches in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata whereas their clash against India will be played at the largest stadium in the world – Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad. The security delegation is likely to inspect these venues and only after their report final decision will be taken.
Notably, the Pakistani government sent a similar sort of security delegation to India ahead of the 2016 T20 World Cup. The Babar Azam-led are slated to open their campaign in the World Cup against the Netherlands on 6th October at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
ICC World Cup 2023: Pakistan’s Game Against Sri Lanka And India Rescheduled – Reports
Pakistan’s schedule for the World Cup is also expected to see some changes as the dates of two of their games can be changed. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah recently said that 2-3 full members expressed concerns over the schedule and therefore minor changes will happen.
It is learned that Pakistan’s game against Sri Lanka, which is originally slated to take place on 12th October has been shifted to 10th October at the same venue in Hyderabad whereas the game against India has been preponed to 14th October from 15th October in Ahmedabad. Both ICC and BCCI have conveyed the changes to PCB, who reportedly have agreed.
