ICC World Cup 2023: 'Rohit Sharma Will Go Berserk At The World Cup' - Yuvraj Singh Makes Bold Prediction

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh made a bold prediction ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023. He backed current captain Rohit Sharma to go berserk in the tournament as similar things are happening as they did ahead of the 2019 World Cup. 

The ICC World Cup 2023 is less than two months away from now. The tournament will be played in India and it’ll be a great opportunity for the home team to end their ICC title drought. They last won the ICC title in 2013 and with them slated to play at home, it’ll be a great advantage for them. 

The focus will be on the skipper Rohit Sharma as there will be massive responsibility on him to captain the team as well as to bat well to help India get great starts. He of late has been struggling to get going in white-ball but we all know what he does when it comes to ICC tournaments. 

In the last ODI World Cup, he was at his best as he smashed 5 centuries and ended the tournament as the leading run-getter with around 650 runs to his tally. Rohit Sharma would be hoping to replicate the same this time around and win the trophy for his team. 

Yuvraj Singh recalled that even ahead of the 2019 World Cup Rohit Sharma wasn’t in the greatest touch and he did something special in the tournament. He remarked that the Indian captain can pull out similar things in this world cup as well. Speaking on the Cricket Basu YouTube channel, he explained: 

“I understand that Rohit Sharma is not in the best of forms right now. Last time also before the 2019 World Cup, he was not in good form in the IPL. And I told him that something special is coming, just be in the zone. And he went on to score 4-5 hundreds in the World Cup. 

“So maybe he is not in the greatest form right now because he will go berserk at the World Cup. You never know. Everything happens for a reason. The same thing happened with me, and that’s what Sachin told me.” 

ICC World Cup 2023: You will have to give him a good team – Yuvraj Singh on Rohit Sharma 

Yuvraj Singh further hailed Rohit Sharma as a good leader and pointed out that a good captain needs a good team as was the case with MS Dhoni. He explained: 

“Rohit has become a very good leader because he has captained Mumbai Indians for such a long time. And he is a very sensible guy under pressure. But the point is, no matter how sensible the captain is, you will have to give him a good team, which is experienced. 

MS Dhoni was a good captain but he had an equally good team at his arsenal with experienced players.  They all played some special knocks and produced special spells. People have to put their hands up when there is pressure and say that ‘I am going to take my team through. I don’t see that happening,” he concluded.
