ICC World Cup 2023: Sourav Ganguly To Look After Eden Gardens' Preparations Ahead Of WC, Says "Eden's Work Is Going Well"

Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly will be a part of a committee that will look after the preparations of the Eden Gardens in Kolkata ahead of the upcoming ODI World Cup in India.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has already sped up its work to host the World Cup matches atthe iconic stadium in Kolkata without any mishap.
The tickets for the ODI World Cup 2023 will be out for sale on Friday (August 25th) and the apex body of Bengal cricket is in full swing to hold the matches in Kolkata without any hassle for the fans who will be visiting Eden Gardens.
However, CAB needs to keep the safety of the fans in their mind since a few days there was a fire incident that took place in the dressing room of the stadium during the renovation work.
Following the incident, CAB officials confirmed that no damage took place and the incident most likely took place because of some issue in electric wires.
Senior members of CAB and former BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly will be a part of the committee which will look after the renovation work and confirm that the works are complete by the given time.
Sourav Ganguly’s presence in the committee will play a major role due to his experience in organizing such tournaments.
Sourav Ganguly visited Eden Gardens recently and when he faced the media, Ganguly assured that the work would be completed in time.
“Eden’s work is going well. The work will be completed in time,” Ganguly said.
Committee to include Sourav Ganguly and other senior members
The committee that will look after the work in Eden Gardens will have a few known faces which include Sourav Ganguly. Apart from Ganguly, CAB president Snehashis Ganguly and former president Abhishek Dalmiya will be there.
Other than them, the committee will have five other CAB officials. In the next six weeks, the team will look into all the aspects so that matches are held without any disturbance.
“We have made a committee of 12 members for the World Cup. Both Sourav and Avishek who is the member of IPL governing council have been kept. All of us are ready to achieve success in this great yajna,” the CAB president said.
Eden Gardens will host five World Cup matches including one semi-final match. Rohit Sharma-led India will take on South Africa in Kolkata on November 5th.
