ICC World Cup 2023: WATCH - ICC Unveils Mascots Inspired By Virat Kohli And Jasprit Bumrah

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday (19th August) unveiled the mascots for the ICC World Cup 2023, set to be played in India from 5th October to 19th November. The governing body organized an event in Gurgaon, Delhi to reveal the mascots.
India’s U19 captains Yash Dhull and Shafali Varma also made an appearance in the event. The International Cricket Council has revealed two mascots; one male and one female, which have been developed from the fictional cricketing utopia called ‘Crictoverse’. Apart from this, it also highlights gender equality and diversity.
The design of the batting mascot, which is blue in color, has been derived from two leading batters in world cricket in Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler. The mascot possesses the ability to electrify audiences with various shots using his electromagnetic bat.
On the other hand, the bowling mascot, which is orange in color, has been inspired by Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Australia’s women all-rounder Ellyse Perry. The ability to fire balls at a lightning-fast pace because of the turbo-powered arm.
Both the mascots are unnamed and the International Cricket Council has left it to the fans to name them. The governing body will soon release a voting process for deciding their names. Ahead of the World Cup, fans will have an opportunity to engage with mascots in person, through broadcasts, and on digital platforms.

The International Cricket CouncilHead of Events Chris Tetley opened up about the unveiling of the mascots, saying that they will signify cricket’s universal appeal beyond cultures and boundaries.
“We are delighted to launch the ICC’s mascot duo ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The perpetual characters signify cricket’s universal appeal beyond cultures and boundaries with the mascots standing as beacons of unity and passion. With representation of both genders, they epitomize the vital role of gender equality in our dynamic world,” Chris Tetley said.
Fans will also be able to purchase products related to mascots.
