ICC World Cup 2023: Watch- New Zealand Win Hearts With Their World Cup Announcement Video As Family Members Star In Adorable Video

New Zealand Cricket (NZC), on Monday, announced the 15-player New Zealand squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Kane Williamson will return to action in the World Cup and will lead the team in the marquee event.

His participation in the competition was in doubt after he suffered an ACL injury while fielding in the very first game of IPL 2023. However, the New Zealand star has recovered at a stunning rate and is now all set to ply his trade for his country in what will be his fourth appearance in the ODI World Cup.

Star fast-bowler Trent Boult has been named in the squad too despite not having a central contract. Just like Boult, James Neesham has been named in the team too even though he does not have a central contract. Neesham got the call-up due to the absence of spin-bowling allrounder Michael Bracewell who is sidelined with an injury.

New Zealand Cricket came up with a heartwarming gesture for the squad announcement. Making it to the World Cup squad is special for every player and NZC made sure to make it even more memorable by involving the family members of the players. They announced the squad through the family members and are receiving praise from all over for such an adorable idea.

Meanwhile, New Zealand will begin their World Cup campaign by locking horns against reigning champions England in the tournament-opener on October 5. It will be followed by the game against the Netherlands and Bangladesh on October 9 and 13 respectively.

New Zealand will take on Afghanistan on October 18 before locking horns against hosts India on October 22 in Dharamsala. They will take on Trans Tasman rivals Australia on October 28 followed by the clash against South Africa on November 1. Their last two league games are against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
