Rishabh Pant will play a crucial role for India if the wicketkeeper cum batsman manages to return to the squad before the upcoming ODI World Cup which is set to take place in the months of October and November. Since there is no official confirmation regarding his return, the Men in Blues are continuing to audition for the number 4 place in the batting order.

He is currently following a fitness program: BCCI’s statement on Rishabh Pant

“He is currently following a fitness program designed for him which includes strength, flexibility, and running,” the statement read.

Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a statement regarding the training process of Rishabh Pant and revealed that the player is going through a fitness program that mainly focuses on strength, flexibility, and running.

Injury has been a major concern for the Men in Blues before the upcoming tournaments. KL Rahul, the star Indian wicketkeeper-batsman has been out of the field since the mid of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 after he suffered a thigh injury while in the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) match. Even though he has started his net practice at NCA.

Shreyas Iyer’s injury has also affected India’s batting order since after he was forced out of the pitch, the Men in Blue’s batting order have been going through turmoil to find a perfect middle-order batsman in the limited-over cricket format.

Rohit Sharma-led India will start their ODI World Cup 2023 journey against Australia on October 8th at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Before the start of the ODI World Cup, the Men in Blues will take part in the Asia Cup and will start their voyage against their arch-rivals, Pakistan on September 2nd at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
