Former India bowler Venkatesh Prasad expressed his concerns about the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which is set to be played between October 5 and November 19. Venkatesh Prasad urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to provide a smoother and better experience for fans.
India will host the first ODI World Cup in the last 12 years and the first ODI tournament entirely played in the country. The BCCI last hosted the ICC ODI tournament back in 2011, where the home team emerged as the title winners in the 14-team tournament under the leadership of legendary MS Dhoni.
We Need Genuine Fans Inside The Stadium ??? Venkatesh Prasad
Venkatesh Prasad took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his concerns about the World Cup, emphasizing the importance of genuine fans in the stadium. He called on the BCCI to make greater efforts and ensure they do not let the country down.
???We have a good team and are string contenders for the World Cup but we need genuine fans inside the stadium and their experience need to be far smoother and easier than what it has been and for that the BCCI needs to do far better than they have been. It is a reflection of the country as a whole and we as a nation should not be let down at any cost,??? Prasad wrote.

Proud Moment To Be Hosting A World Cup ??? Venkatesh Prasad
Venkatesh Prasad criticized the BCCI???s preparation, pointing out unreasonable delays in the schedule, changes affecting matches, and a non-transparent ticket system. He emphasized that hosting a World Cup should be a proud moment for fans rather than a source of difficulties.
???There is no debate and doubt on the fact that we have messed up the lead up to the World Cup. Unreasonable delay in schedule in the first place and if that wasn???t enough changing the schedule hampering 5 matches in the process, if that wasn???t enough a completely non-transparent and inefficient ticket system only encouraging black marketeers.
It is a proud moment to be hosting a World Cup and it should have been a great time for the fans but these difficulties for the fans doesn???t look unplanned. It???s time we wake up and not make this incompetence a norm just because ???Yes Men??? around don???t want to speak up.???

It takes one corrupt, arrogant guy to take away the hardwork of an organisation that is generally non-corrupt and get a stamp of corruption on the whole leadership , not just on a micro level but at a large level.
India will begin the campaign against Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8. The hosts will face Pakistan at the world???s largest cricket stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad, on October 14.
