The inaugural edition of the ICC World Test Championship is ready to get underway in a few days’ time and some knocks in the tournament will go down as one of the best in history. India and New Zealand are the first finalists of the tournament and it is going to be an exciting battle in Rose Bowl, Southampton.

10. Marnus Labuschagne’s 215 Against New Zealand:

This was the final test in Australia’s home test series against New Zealand in 2019 and Australia’s number three Marnus Labuschagne scored a brilliant double century that almost pulled the visitors out of the game. It was an innings of pure class and it is his highest Test score as of now. His tremendous knock of 215 in 363 balls helped Australia win the test comfortable by 279 runs and also the series 3-0 in the ICC World Test Championship.

9. Rohit Sharma’s 212 Against South Africa:

The first series for Rohit Sharma as a test opener was a memorable one as he scored centuries after centuries and the third Test of the home series against South Africa saw him doubling it up with an excellent 212 run knock.  His partnership alongside Rahane was extraordinary and he hit 28 fours and six sixes in the innings. He scored it at a very quick rate too in just 255 balls and it was a delight for the Indian fans.

8. Joe Root’s 218 Against India:

This was the second double century for Joe Root in 2021 as notched up a hard-working innings in a tough away series against India. It was very important for him and the side considering that India is very good at home conditions and England needed to start well to stay in the hunt for an ICC World Test Championship final spot. Root’s 218 run-knock helped his side make the early inroads to go 1-0 up in the series.

7. Kane Williamson’s 238 Against Pakistan:

The New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is one of the best batsmen in world cricket and it is not a surprise that he features in the last. He scored a fluent 238 against Pakistan in the second test of the home series in 2021 and his innings comprised 28 fours. There were two more centurions in the match for the home side and New Zealand went on to win the match by an innings and 176 runs in the ICC World Test Championship.

6. Dimuth Karunaratne’s 244 Against Bangladesh:

The Srilankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne showed a lot of composure to help his team from a losing position to getting the test drawn. Karunatne’s 244 came off 437 balls and he hit 26 fours in the process. His calmness and patience were inspiring and he formed a great partnership alongside Dhananjaya De Silva who scored 166 in the same innings. The match was drawn finally against the Bangladesh side who were looking to stamp their authority.

5. Mayank Agarwal’s 243 Against Bangladesh:

The Indian opener Mayank Agarwal has fallen off the pecking order, however, he played an important hand for India in getting to the ICC World Test Championship finals. The first test of the home series against the Bangladesh side saw the Karnataka lad scoring a wonderful knock of 243 and his double century helped India to take a lead in the two-match series against Bangladesh in the ICC World Test Championship.

4. Kane Williamson’s 251 Against West Indies:

Kane Williamson brought up his highest Test score against the West Indies in the 1st test of the home series. He played 412 deliveries for his 251 and scored 34 fours and two sixes in the innings of the highest class. It is one of the best knocks by a captain and it helped New Zealand move 1-0 up in the series after winning the test by an innings and 134 runs in the ICC World Test Championship.

3. Virat Kohli’s 254* Against South Africa

There is not going to be a successful list without the name of Virat Kohli in it and the Indian skipper played one of the innings that he will cherish forever in the ICC World Test Championship. The unbeaten 254 is his highest Test score and he never looked like being tired. The South African bowlers had no answers to the brilliant display of batsmanship skills and India won the Test by an innings and 137 runs in the second test of the three-match home series.

2. Zak Crawley 267 Against Pakistan

The England top-order batsman Zak Crawley did impress a lot with his magnificent knock of 267 against the Pakistan side in the third Test of the home series. This was the highest test score for the tall right-hander and his technique was amazing to watch. He is expected to be the future of England’s batting and the knock in the ICC World Test Championship did prove his potential.

1.David Warner’s 335* Against Pakistan

The Australian opener David Warner came up with a special knock to announce his arrival back and he ripped apart the Pakistan bowling attack in the second day-night test. His unbeaten 335 run knock comprised of 39 fours and one six and he took just 418 balls to get there. Australia won the test comfortably an innings and 48 runs and this will go down as the best knock in the tournament.
