ICC World Test Championship witnessed many bilateral Test series among 9 countries. India, New Zealand, Australia, England, South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh were the 9 teams that were part of the tournament.

Since 2019, these 9 teams played multiple home and away Test series during the tournament. India and New Zealand qualified for ICC World Test Championship final after topping the points table. The World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand is underway at The Rose Bowl cricket stadium in Southampton, England.

In Test cricket, there is no limit on the number of overs. Batsmen can bat at their own pace and play whatever number of deliveries they wish to play.

As a result, many tail-enders also manage to play a good knock in Tests. During ICC World Test Championship, tail-enders of few teams showed a good batting performance during the tournament. Sri Lanka had the worst batting average for tail-enders in ICC World Test Championship with 12.42. For Sri Lanka, bowlers Lasith Embuldeniya, Suranga Lakmal, Vishwa Fernando, and Lahiru Kumara were some of the tail-enders during the tournament.

Sri Lanka played 6 Test series during the tournament. The Asian team played 12 Tests, out of which they won just 2 and lost 6 while 4 games ended in a draw. Sri Lanka finished on the second last 8th spot in the points table with a point of percentage (PCT) of 27.8

8. England- 13.81

England team had the 2nd worst batting average for tail-enders during ICC World Test Championship. Tail-enders of England had a batting average of 13.81 during the tournament. For England, bowlers Stuart Broad, Jofra Archer, James Anderson, Jack Leach, James Anderson, and Dom Bess were the tail-enders who played most matches during the tournament.

The Joe Root-led side played 6 Test series. They played 21 matches, winning 11 and losing 7. There were 3 matches that ended in a draw. With a PCT of 61.4, England finished on the 4th spot in the points table.

7. Bangladesh- 13.88

Bangladesh had a slightly better batting average for tail-enders than England during WTC. The Asian team had a batting average of 13.88. For Bangladesh, bowlers Taijul Islam, Abu Jayed, and Mehidy Hasan Mira were a few crucial tail-enders during the tournament.

Bangladesh played 7 Test matches during the tournament. They did not manage to win a single match. They faced defeats in 6 Test matches while 1 ended in a draw. As a result, Bangladesh finished on the last 9th spot in the points table with a PCT of just 4.8.

6. West Indies- 14.18

West Indies takes the 6th spot in the list. For West Indies, their tail-enders had a batting average of 14.18 during the ICC World Test Championship. For West Indies, Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel, Roston Chase, Rahkeem Cornwall, and Alzarri Joseph were the tail-enders who played most of the matches during the tournament.

West Indies remained far away from qualifying for the final. The Jason Holder-led team played 6 bilateral Test series during the tournament. South Africa takes the 5th spot in this list as their tail-enders had a batting average of 14.38 during the tournament. Bowlers Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, and Lungi Ngidi were some of the tail-enders for South Africa during the tournament.

South Africa played 5 Test series during the tournament. They played 12 matches, losing 8 and winning 4. With a PCT of 37.8, South Africa finished on the 6th spot in the points table.

4. India- 14.65

India was slightly better than South Africa in the matter of batting average of tail-enders. The Indian team had a batting average of 14.65 for tail-enders during ICC World Test Championship. For India, bowlers Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and Umesh Yadav were some of the tail-enders during the tournament.

India played 6 bilateral series during which they played 17 matches. They won 12 matches and lost 4, while 1 match ended in a draw. With a PCT of 72.2, India topped the points table and qualified for the final.

New Zealand played 5 bilateral Test series during the tournament. Out of 11 matches, they won 7 and lost 4. With a PCT of 70.0, New Zealand finished on the 2nd spot in the points table and managed to seal a berth in the final of the tournament.
