However, KL Rahul (46) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (58) spoiled England's plans by displaying batting brilliance. The duo batted very well against the new ball and built a 94-run stand.

Captain Shubman Gill (12) was unable to play a good knock, but Sai Sudharsan and injured Rishabh Pant hit terrific half-centuries. Sai Sudharsan scored 61 runs while Rishabh Pant, who had earlier got retired hurt, returned to bat on Day 2 with a fractured foot and slammed 54 runs.

Shardul Thakur (41), Washington Sundar (27), and Ravindra Jadeja (20) also chipped in with decent contributions and took India to 358 runs in 114.1 overs. For England, Ben Stokes bagged a sensational 5-wicket haul and Jofra Archer got three wickets.

England dominate with the bat

When it was England's turn to bat, they absolutely dominated and set their sights on batting only once in the match. Openers Zak Crawley (84) and Ben Duckett (94) scored runs at a great strike rate and made the visitors look clueless.

Indian bowlers bowled some really poor lines and lengths and received brutal punishment for it. After the openers got out, Joe Root played a historic knock of 150 runs that made him the second leading run-getter in Test history, while Ollie Pope scored 71 runs.

Meanwhile, the most eye-catching knock of the innings came from Ben Stokes' bat as the English skipper blasted 141 runs and powered his team to a colossal score of 669, with a 311-run lead.

Then, in the third innings, India got off to a nightmarish start with Chris Woakes dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan in the first over to reduce the visitors to 0/2. However, Shubman Gill and KL Rahul led India to recovery with their fifties, and at the end of Day 4, they were at 174/2.

On Day 5, Gill (103) slammed an excellent ton, and Rahul finished with a score of 90 runs. After that, Ravindra Jadeja (107*) and Washington Sundar (101*) showcased a batting masterclass to take India to 425/4, and the match ended in a draw.
