ICC WTC Final: Umesh Yadav Lauds Ravi Shastri And Virat Kohli For Working Hard And Building A Favourable Team Culture

India’s veteran seamer Umesh Yadav has hailed captain Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri on their road to the ICC World Test Championship final, set to take place in June. India and New Zealand will lock horns in the final of the World Test Championship final in Southampton, beginning from the 18th of June. Umesh Yadav, who is part of the three-month England sojourn, lauded Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri for giving them the freedom to play their natural game.

Ravi Shastri has proved as one of the best coaches for India in recent times, delivering twin Test series victories in Australia and asserting their home dominance. On the other hand, Virat Kohli is already establishing his legacy as one of the greatest captains. After conquering Australia, the 32-year old has the chance to script a series win in England this August. India play five Tests against the Englishmen after the World Test Championship final.

Umesh Yadav underlined that Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri have worked exceptionally hard, handling the team, giving confidence to the players. The Vidharbha seamer believes that when the leader and coach ask the players to play freely, there follows better performances.

“Virat and Ravi bhai have worked really hard. The way Virat has captained and handled the team, the freedom and confidence that the captain and coach have given to the team keep a lot of weightage because as a bowler or a batsman when you can play at your free will and freedom you definitely perform so much better,” Yadav told ANI.

Umesh Yadav highlighted that whenever the team steps out on the field, there is aggression, backup, and a feeling of support. The right-arm seamer concedes that all 11 cricketers are in sync with each other as there is an excellent harmony and favourable environment. Yadav feels that all the credit goes to Kohli and Shastri for the same.

“When the team steps down on the ground, there is a kind of aggression, a feeling of backup and support. All 11 players are in sync with each other. So, coaches and captain deserve the credit for that. The players are very comfortable, there is a team spirit and good environment,” he added.
