"I'd Love To Be A Part Of But It's A Lot Of Cricket Away" - Trent Boult On Next Year's ODI World Cup

New Zealand Cricket Team’s speedster Trent Boult is all set to take part in Big Bask League (BBL 2022-23). The pacer in August gave up his national central contract for playing leagues all around the globe. His decision raised a lot of eyebrows as we all know that New Zealand doesn’t have a large pool of quality players to replace him.
Other than Trent Bout, the likes of James Neesham & Martin Guptill have also given up their contracts. It won’t be wrong to say that cricketers are somewhat losing interest in playing for their national teams due to the rise of franchise cricket.

Trent Boult On ODI World Cup 2023
Trent Boult was having an interaction with cricket.com.au and was asked about the changing landscape of cricket.
“It’s a moving landscape at the moment with what that looks like, but I’ve definitely got huge ambitions to still be there. The 2023 World Cup next year in India is a big one that I’d love to be a part of but it’s a lot of cricket away,” said Trent Boult.

“The immediate future is obviously to focus on the Big Bash and I’m in the International League T20 in Dubai in a couple of weeks as well and I’m just really excited to be here I’ve played a lot of international cricket and I’ve got the opportunity to move into some franchise stuff now,” he added.
Conundrum for Management
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) had said that players in the contract would be given priority. New Zealand is all set to play 2 Tests and 3 ODIs against Pakistan in a historic tour at Pakistan. With ODI World Cup aligned next year, the players need to play together as frequently chopping and changing won’t work.
Skipper Kane Williamson & Head Coach Gary Stead have a strenuous task on hand as finding the right combination won’t be easy against a dangerous Pakistan. It would be interesting to see how the tour pans out as last time in 2021 the Kiwis had pulled out of the tour at the 11th hour citing security reasons.
