Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu made a bold claim about Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL 2025 victory. Rayudu said the Bengaluru-based team needs to understand how tough it is to win five titles, adding that his comments were friendly banter rather than serious criticism.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru, led by captain Rajat Patidar, clinched their first IPL title in 2025. Virat Kohli was the team’s best performer with the bat, scoring 657 runs in 15 innings at an average of 54.75 and a strike rate of 144.71, including eight half-centuries.

In the bowling department, Josh Hazlewood was the leading wicket-taker for the team. The right-arm fast bowler took 22 wickets in 12 matches, with best figures of 4/33.

I Am Not Leaving RCB Because They Need to Realize… – Ambati Rayudu

During a YouTube podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, Ambati Rayudu shared his predictions for the 2026 IPL season. He said that the Mumbai Indians (MI) or the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are strong contenders. Rayudu also predicted a final between MI and RCB.

Speaking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru's maiden IPL title, Rayudu said that winning five championships is a tough challenge, which has only been achieved by MI and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He picked MI, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, CSK, and KKR as the teams likely to finish in the top four.

"If we look at the teams now, I think MI or KKR could win. Top four, I think MI, RCB, CSK, KKR. I think it could be an MI RCB final, and MI will win. I am not leaving RCB because they need to realize how difficult it is to win five titles," he said on Shubhankar Mishra's podcast.

I Was Happy When They Won - Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu said that he was pleased with Bangalore's IPL 2025 victory, adding that the team is heading in the right direction. He wished the Rajat Patidar-led team continued success.

"It is just good banter. I was happy when they won, I wish them all the best, I think they are on the right path and playing unlike RCB," Rayudu added.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs in the final at Ahmedabad. The Rajat Patidar-led side had been in fine form throughout the season. They finished second in the league stage and advanced to the final with a victory in the first qualifier.

Ambati Rayudu Has Won Multiple IPL Titles in His Career

Ambati Rayudu had a successful IPL career. The right-handed batter won six titles, three each with Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He began his journey with MI in 2010, playing 136 matches and scoring 2,635 runs, including 14 half-centuries.

Rayudu joined CSK in 2018 and spent six seasons with the franchise, amassing 1,932 runs in 90 matches. He retired from the tournament after helping CSK clinch the 2023 IPL title.

Rayudu played 204 IPL games, scoring 4,348 runs at an average of 28.23 with a strike rate of 127.54. He is one of only two players in IPL history to have won the title six times.
