"If there was..." - Rishabh Pant reveals what scared him the most after horrific car accident

Speaking to Star Sports, India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant stated that the day when he met with the deadly car accident he felt that might have been the last day of his life. Pant faced a car crash while he returning to his home in Uttarakhand, and sustained multiple injuries. However, the local people helped Pant reach the hospital after which he went through various treatments and surgeries. Pant is currently undergoing his rehabilitation period.
Rishabh Pant believed that if there had been any nerve damage that would have been a point that might have made him scared. Pant stated that he took an SUV car but what he was seeing was a sedan. After Pant met with the accident, he asked for help from someone who helped get his knee back in place. Pant further added at that time he was aware of his wounds, but added that the condition could have been more serious.
Rishabh Pant opens up on his feelings after his accident
Rishabh Pant said, “If there was any nerve damage, there was a possibility of amputation. That is when I felt scared. I had taken an SUV, but what I was seeing was a sedan. There was someone around so I asked if he could help getting the leg back in the position. He helped the knee get back in place. Two persons Rajat Kumar and Nishu Kumar were able to pull Pant out of his SUV before it went up in flames. It was the first time I had such a feeling in life. At the time of the accident, I was aware of the wounds, but I was lucky as it could have been even more serious.”
At the time of the accident, Rishabh Pant’s knee had twisted around 180 degrees and was dislocated. Local people named Rajat Kumar and Nishu Kumar helped him to get the knee back in place.
Rishabh Pant announced his arrival on the world stage during the U19 World Cup 2016. Pant was known for his attacking approach and played many match-winning knocks for his team which includes the explosive hundred against Nepal. He also earned an IPL contract with Delhi Daredevils (Delhi Capitals) and showcased decent performance for them in IPL 2016.
Within one year after his exploits in the U19 World Cup and IPL, Rishabh Pant earned a place in the Indian cricket team. However, the initial days were challenging for Pant as he kept being in and out of the team. However, the year 2018 proved to be a game-changing year for Pant.
Rishabh Pant not only smashed runs in the Indian Premier League but showcased immense talent for playing unorthodox shots and also hitting sixes with one hand. Pant slammed a brilliant ton on the England tour in the same year and since then become a regular member of the side.
Rishabh Pant was one of India’s highest run scorers in the years 2021 and 2022. Pant played his last international match against Bangladesh in December 2022, and is expected to make a comeback in IPL 2024.
