The 22-year-old Ireland National Cricket Team batter Harry Tector opened up on IPL ambitions and said that every player wants to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Tector was in brilliant form in the recently concluded two-match T20I series against India. In the first match, he played an explosive knock and achieved his highest T20I score for Ireland, which was 64 runs off 33 balls. After his incredible performance in the first game, India captain Hardik Pandya applauded the batter.

Speaking to a few reporters after India’s 2-0 series win, Tector said that he just wants to score runs consistently and quickly in T20 cricket and if he manages to do that he might get an IPL contract. He added that his priority will always be to win games for Ireland.

“If you ask any player if they want to play in the IPL, they’ll say yes. To be honest, I’m not getting too caught up in all of that. If you start worrying about that sort of stuff, you’re going to find yourself getting into trouble. All I can do is score consistently and quickly in T20 cricket. If I do that consistently enough, it would be great to get an IPL contract. My main priority is to win games for Ireland and that will never change.”

India captain Hardik was highly impressed with Tector’s performance and he even gifted the Ireland batter a bat. While talking about receiving the bat from Hardik, Tector said that it came as a surprise to him.

“It was extremely generous of him [Hardik giving him his bat]. I didn’t expect him to do that. He was very nice to me. He has a lot of good bats. I’m sure there will be a few lads who will try to nick it off me (laughs),” he added.
