Dawid Malan Praises Joe Root For His Batting
While speaking to the media in a virtual conference. Dawid Malan praised the consistency at which Root has batted in the series so far. Malan, who was at the other end when Root slammed his century, said that it’s great to watch him play.
“You look at all the best players that have played – all the greats, if you want to put it that way – and as soon as you miss your line and your length, they hurt you. Joe is one of those”, the 33-year-old said.
Malan, who built a 139-run stand with Root for 3rd wicket, also praised the latter’s footwork while batting.
“He just moves his feet so well and his position when he hits the ball is so good, he hits the ball so much later than most people. He always looks to score with intent, you know if you bowl a bad ball he just puts you away,” he further said.
In the ongoing 3rd Test against India, Dawid Malan made a comeback to England’s Test side after 3 years. The left-handed batsman smashed a 70-run knock in the match, registering a great comeback. Earlier, England bowled out India for just 78 runs, with incredible three-wicket hauls by James Anderson and Craig Overton. Ollie Robinson and Sam Curran dismissed 2 batsmen each.
Rohit Sharma (19) and Ajinkya Rahane (18) were the only two batsmen to score in double-digits, as the rest of the Indian batsmen fell cheaply on single-digit scores. With 423-8 on the scoreboard at the end of Day 2, England has earned a massive lead of 345 runs against India.
