The incident happened on Friday when Doull was commentating during a game between the Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi. The revered commentator was heard saying “mid-life crisis with that hair” as the cameras panned on Dale Steyn, who has a donned a grown mane since the IPL last year, was sitting in the dressing room.
Unhappy with the comments, the next day Steyn took to social media to ask who was the commentator, and one of the users pulled out the video of the same.
Dale Steyn, 37, furiously hit back at the broadcasting commentator. While the pacer didn’t mention Doull or anyone, in particular, he used strong words to indicate his annoyance over the comments.
He asked the commentators to focus on their jobs, which is of speaking about the cricket being played and not on anyone’s personal choices of living. Steyn also expressed his despise for such people.
“If your job is to talk about the game, then do that. But if you use that airtime to abuse anyone for their weight, sexual choices, ethnic backgrounds, lifestyle etc or even hairstyles, then im afraid I have no time for you as a human. You and anyone else like that to be fair,” tweeted Dale Steyn.

It was the first game of PSL 2021 for Steyn. While he picked a couple of wickets, he was on the expensive side leaking 44 runs as Peshawar Zalmi chased down a big target of 199. In Steyn’s defence, almost every bowler went for runs in a high-scoring game.
The Gladiators have lost all their three games and sit at the bottom of the points table. Sarfaraz Ahmed’s side will take on Islamabad United on Monday.
Dale Steyn had pulled out of the IPL 2021 after playing for Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore last season. After a disappointing season – 1 wicket in 3 matches – he was nigh certain to be released. Steyn withdrew himself ahead of the auction due to personal reasons before making himself available for the PSL 2021.
