After being admitted to the hospital, Mayank Agarwal was given initial treatment and later he was shifted to the ICU. According to several sources, Mayank ingested the acid after mistaking it for water when the flight worker left an acid bottle in the water storage section. As soon as he realized how everything tasted, he hastily spat everything out of his mouth. The physicians are treating him at the earliest and there is little probability that any amount of acid has entered his stomach. The flight crew seized the water bottle and opened an investigation in the interim.
On Tuesday, Karnataka State Cricket Association president while speaking to Cricbuzz had stated that Mayank Agarwal was out of danger and would be discharged from the hospital on Wednesday. Agarwal is expected to fly back to Bengaluru and will be consulting the local doctors.
Mayank Agarwal played for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match against Tripura. Karnataka is now set to play against Railways in Rajkot, and the team’s vice-captain Nikil Jose is expected to lead in the absence of Agarwal.
