Former India National Cricket Team opening batsman Gautam Gambhir, ahead of taking part in the new season of the Legends League Cricket (LLC), asserted that he is feeling pretty nervous to play cricket after a very long time.
The Legends League Cricket 2022, which is the second edition of the tournament, commenced with a special match between the India Maharajas and World Giants, where the Maharajas won by chasing down the target. Also, the final of the tournament, which consists of 4 teams, is set to be played on October 5.
Meanwhile, Gambhir is set for a return to cricket on Saturday, September 17, when he comes out in the field to lead India Capitals in the game against Virender Sehwag-led Gujarat Giants at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Speaking in a video released by the team’s social media handles ahead of the Legends League Cricket game, Gambhir said:
“I’m pretty nervous. In fact, I am probably way more nervous than I was when I made my international debut because I have not played cricket for a very long time.”
It’s always nice to come back and play a game of cricket – Gautam Gambhir
He further expressed his excitement to participate in a cricket tournament after a very long time.
“But it’s exciting because you’ve done that for a very long time. It’s always nice to come back and play a game of cricket and a tournament of this level with some of the guys that I’ve played with and against,” he said.
While talking about leading his side in the tournament, Gautam Gambhir said that he is excited to once again lead a team and added that captaincy is a bit challenging for him.
“It is exciting. But at the same time, it’s been a bit challenging as well because captaincy will always be challenging for someone like me who expects a lot of myself and the other players as well,” he said.
