India and Afghanistan will square off with each other in a T20I series in January 2024. IND vs AFG T20I series will observe three encounters. The IND vs AFG T20I series will commence on Thursday, January 11 at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
The next two clashes are scheduled to be played on January 14 and 17. While the IND vs AFG 2nd T20I will take place at Holkar Stadium in Indore, the 3rd T20I will be played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
India and Afghanistan have played 4 T20Is with each other in the past. India has crushed Afghanistan in all those encounters. They last faced each other in a T20I game in Asia Cup 2022 last year, when India outplayed Afghanistan by 101 runs.
Interestingly, this is the first time that Afghanistan is playing a T20I series against India. Although India is quite a powerful team against Afghanistan, the latter stunned many cricket giants in the ODI World Cup in November.
Hence, Team India needs a strong squad in the IND vs AFG T20I series to keep their winning momentum alive. Although there will be some senior players in the squad, some new players are also expected to get opportunities in the IND vs AFG T20I series.

Out of 10 innings, the Assam player slammed half-centuries in 7 games and remained not out in 4 averaging 85.0. This reveals his batting dominance in the tournament. Parag held a strike rate of 182+ while batting in the lower middle order.
Riyal Parag has been part of Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League for a long time. He is also retained for IPL 2024. After his stupendous show in SMAT 2023-24, Parag can get a chance to make his debut in the IND vs AFG series.

2. Abhishek Sharma
Punjab team won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24 and Abhishek Sharma was a key reason behind their success. The left-handed batter slammed 485 runs in 10 games. At an average of 48.50, the Punjab opener slammed 2 centuries and 7 half-centuries in the tournament.
Sharma also plays in IPL and has been part of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the last seasons. After his magnificent show in SMAT, Sharma might get a national call for the forthcoming IND vs AFG T20I series.
1. Suyash Sharma
Suyash Sharma was an outstanding spinner in the tournament. The right-arm spinner hunted 18 wickets across 7 games for his team Delhi at an average of just 7.22. He registered an economy of just 4.64 in the T20I tournament, which showcases his dominance against the opposition batters.
Suyash Sharma also made his IPL debut last season for Kolkata Knight Riders. With his impressive show in his first-ever match, the franchise played him in 11 games in IPL 2023 and he grabbed 10 scalps for the team. With a good show in IPL as well as SMAT, Suyash Sharma might get an opportunity in the IND vs AFG T20I series.
