Indian captain Rohit Sharma completed his 5th hundred in T20I cricket and marked a marvelous return to the format after 14 months. Sharma while playing against Afghanistan in the third T20I match of the series reached the three-figure mark on the fourth ball of the 19th over. Sharma also helped India recover from the early damage and took them to a score of 212/4 in 20 overs.
Rohit Sharma became the first batsman on the planet to slam five T20I hundreds, which is great news for the Indian cricket team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. However, the comeback was not easy for the ‘hitman’ as he was dismissed for two consecutive ducks in the first two matches of the series.
In the opening two games of the IND vs AFG T20I series, Rohit Sharma had to walk back to the dressing after being dismissed for 2 consecutive ducks. Shubman Gill cruelly ran out Rohit in the first match, but in the second, Sharma had to leave the field when he attempted to attack the bowler.
Rohit Sharma has been one of the best batsmen in modern-day cricket and has a wide range of shots. Rohit Sharma plays hit shots more effortlessly than any other batsman in the world. Apart from Rohit Sharma’s hundred, Rinku Singh played the role of the supporting character along with the Indian captain also slammed a half-century.
India were 22/4 at one point when top names such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Shivam Dube were dismissed cheaply. However, Rohit Sharma started to bring the Indian team back into the match along with Rinku Singh and put up a stand of 190 runs for the fifth wicket.
Rohit Sharma finished the innings with an unbeaten knock of 121 runs whereas Rinku Singh was also not out on 69 runs from 39 balls. The Indian batsmen slammed 36 runs from the last over of Karim Janat and showcased absolute carnage at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
