Rohit Sharma will be desperate to make amends with the bat when India and Afghanistan lock horns in the third IND vs AFG T20I. The final match of the series is scheduled to take place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

India have already sealed the series by winning the first two games. In both the games, the Men in Blue crossed the finishing line with ease. The hosts won both games by a similar margin of six wickets to seal the three-match series with a match remaining. In the first game, India chased down 159 inside 18 overs before chasing down chasing down 173 inside 16 overs in the second game.

The ongoing series also marked the return of Rohit Sharma as well as Virat Kohli to the T20I side. Both of the senior batters had not played a T20I for Team India since the semifinal loss against England in the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Rohit Sharma eyes huge record:

The comeback series has not really panned out in an expected manner for Rohit Sharma so far. He is yet to score a single run in the series after opening the batting in both games. In the first game, he was run out for a two-ball duck before being castled by Fazalhaq Farooqi for a golden duck in the second game.

The right-handed batsman will be desperate to lead from the front in the third game and get some runs under his belt. And if Rohit Sharma manages to score 44 runs in the game, he could add yet another feather to his already illustrious cap. He needs 44 runs to become the India captain with the most runs in the shortest format of the game.

The record is currently held by Virat Kohli who scored 1570 runs in 50 T20Is as captain. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has scored 1527 runs in 53 T20Is as captain thus far. The star batsman holds several major batting records in T20Is and will be keen to add another to the list.

After the T20Is, Rohit will be leading Team India in the highly-anticipated five-match Test series against England. The series is scheduled to begin on January 25 in Hyderabad. India have already announced the squad for the first two games of the series.
