IND vs AFG: Rohit Sharma Shatters Multiple Records After His Impressive 131 Runs Knock In ICC World Cup 2023

Indian captain Rohit Sharma stole the limelight in match 9 of the ICC World Cup 2023 against Afghanistan at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The opening batter slammed a magnificent century and won his team their second match of the tournament. 

Rohit Sharma went after the bowlers from word go and didn’t let them settle. The Indian captain batted aggressively and smashed them all over the park. He played almost every shot to perfection and with the way he batted, it looked gorgeous to the eyes. 

Rohit Sharma smashed the fastest century in the World Cup for India and made sure that his team was on the right track in the chase. He ended with a knock of 131 runs off 84 balls. He batted with a strike rate of around 156 and also smashed 16 fours and 5 sixes in his innings. 

This was his 31st century in the ODIs. He surpassed Ricky Ponting and is now the third batter with most centuries in the 50-over format. He now only has Virat Kohli (47) and Sachin Tendulkar (49) ahead of him.

Rohit smashed quite a few records after his magnificent ton in Delhi. He equaled David Warner to become the batter with the fewest innings to score 1000 runs in the ODI World Cups.

One of the massive milestones that Rohit achieved was he surpassed Chris Gayle to become the leading six-hitter in the history of international cricket. He surpassed his tally of 553 sixes to achieve the feat. The batter hit 5 sixes in his innings.

The Indian captain also smashed the fastest century for India in World Cups. He smashed the ton in 63 balls. The previous best was of Kapil Dev, who achieved the feat in 63 balls.
