Indian skipper Rohit Sharma would be having mixed feelings about the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan even though he might not show those feelings. The Men in Blue were spectacular in the first two T20Is defeating Afghanistan by six wickets in both matches. However, Rohit Sharma registered consecutive ducks in both games.

Rohit Sharma would be mighty pleased with the way Yashasvi Jaiswal repaid the faith shown by head coach Rahul Dravid in him as the first-choice opener as he scored a terrific half-century in the second T20I. He would also be impressed by Shivam Dube’s consecutive fifties in this series and the all-round performance displayed by him. However, Rohit Sharma would be disappointed by his performances after returning to T20Is after a 14-month-long hiatus.

Rohit Sharma registered two consecutive ducks in the series so far and had a disastrous return to the shortest format. The Indian skipper was run out in Mohali due to a terrible mixup with partner Shubman Gill and on Sunday, he was clean bowled by Fazalhaq Farooqi on the first ball as he tried to advance and hit the pacer but the ball ended up hitting the off stump. Murali Kartik mentioned his two ducks as the only failure in this series while commentating.

“The only failure has been the skipper. Two naughts in two games but he wouldn’t be too worried about that. Back in this format after a long time. Back as captain. He was run out in the first game. Tried to hit a big one today and lost his stumps but India have done well,” Kartik said on commentary.

Rohit Sharma Bags His Fifth Golden Duck In T20Is

It was his fifth golden duck in T20Is and second as captain. He has a total of six ducks as captain and 12 in total making him the batter with the most ducks in T20Is. In terms of captains having the most number of ducks in T20Is, Rohit Sharma comes second to Aaron Finch who has eight of them as the captain of Australia.

Even after Rohit’s failure, India won the two games with Shivam Dube starring in both matches while Yashasvi Jaiswal was the start in the second T20I. The power-hitting by these two in the second T20I was completely eye-pleasing and helped India clinch the series with one game still left to play. It is possible that the third T20I can see a lot of changes given India has already won the series against Afghanistan.

However, it is unlikely that either Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli will be missing the encounter on Wednesday given Virat has only played one T20I in this series and Rohit is yet to open his account in the series. Afghanistan has never won an international game against India and they will hope to register their first win against India on Wednesday. They have played some decent cricket in this series but have failed to capitalize on the right time and India has displayed a dominating performance against them.
