After the two back-to-back wins in the first two games, India hosted Afghanistan for the dead rubber third T20I on Wednesday (17th January. The game between the two teams took place at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, which saw a festival of runs.
India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. However, the conditions didn’t favour them all at the start as Afghanistan bowler Fareed Ahmad was all over them. Yashasvi Jaiswal (6), Virat Kohli (0), Sanju Samson (0), and Shivam Dube (1) bagged low scores.
They were tottering at 22/4 and it was then when skipper Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh took the onus to themselves and joined the hands together. They bailed the team out of trouble and once they got their eye set in they took the game away from Afghanistan.
Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh batted like a dream pair and they didn’t put a foot wrong in their partnership. The duo added 190 runs together and made a mockery of the Afghanistan bowlers, who were hit all over the park by the duo.
While Rohit Sharma ended with an unbeaten knock of 121 runs off 69 balls, Rinku Singh smashed an unbeaten 69 runs off 39 balls. Their sensational knocks powered India to a big total of 212 runs, which at one stage looked impossible, especially after the start they had.
For Afghanistan, Fareed Ahmad was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 3/20. Along with Azmatullah Omarzai picked one wicket whereas no other bowler could get a wicket. They had an economy of over 7.
