A young fan breached security and hugged Virat Kohli during the second T20I of the ongoing three-match series between India and Afghanistan. Following the incident, Madhya Pradesh police detained the young man and took him to the Tukoganj police station.
Virat Kohli made a comeback to T20I cricket during the second match, marking his first appearance since the semifinal loss against England in the 2022 T20 World Cup. The 35-year-old missed the first T20I match of the ongoing series due to personal reasons.
Fan Breaches Security To Hug Virat Kohli
The Delhi-born cricketer received an enthusiastic welcome from the crowd in his comeback T20I match. However, one fan went too far by breaching security to reach Kohli. He managed to enter the stadium, hugged the former India captain, and touched his feet.
As per PTI, a police official stated that the fan possessed a valid ticket for the game and entered the Stadium through the Narendra Hirwani Gate. The man, appearing to be a Kohli fan, breached the stadium’s perimeter by climbing the fence around the spectators’ gallery.

Virat Kohli Delivers An Impactful Performance In His Comeback Game
Virat Kohli’s return to the Indian T20I squad after an extended absence sparked widespread curiosity. However, the veteran batter embraced an aggressive approach during the chase. He delivered an impactful performance in the recent match against Afghanistan.
There’s Been A Mutual Admiration – Virat Kohli
In a video shared by BCCI on X, Virat Kohli emphasized the strong connection with Novak Djokovic, highlighting their mutual admiration and respect. Kohli also expressed his admiration for Djokovic’s fitness journey and conveyed his hope to catch up with him.
“There’s been a mutual admiration, respect and really nice to connect with global athletes who are excelling at a higher level. Collectively, what I think about it is it’s sending out a message of inspiration to the next generation in a way,” Kohli said.
“I have a lot of respect for him, his journey, his passion for fitness, something that I follow myself and believe in a lot. So, there’s lot to connect on. Hopefully, if he comes to India soon or I happen to be in a country where he’s playing, will definitely catch up with him and just chill out and maybe have a cup of coffee,” he added.
Virat Kohli will be next seen in action during the third and final T20I of the series, scheduled to be played at the Indian Premier League home ground, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, on Wednesday, January 17.
