India captain Rohit Sharma didn’t have a great outing in his comeback match in the T20Is after 14 months long. The batter bagged a duck in the ongoing first match of the series against Afghanistan. The game is taking place at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

Rohit Sharma came out to open the innings for India in the chase of 159 runs and took the strike. The skipper defended the first ball and then on the second ball got out. However, it was an unfortunate dismissal as he was run out and had to take the long walk back to the pavilion.

Fazlalhaq Farooqi bowled a delivery to which Rohit Sharma came down the track to make it half-volley. He played the shot towards the right of mid-off and the ball seemed to be racing away. But Ibrahim Zadran put in a great dive and stopped the ball.

Shubman Gill at the non-striker’s end didn’t look at his partner and was watching the ball. Rohit Sharma kept running and yelled loudly for the run but the young batter didn’t respond and the skipper ended up at the same end and sacrificed his wicket.

Rohit Sharma was livid with the way he got out and he left the crease fuming. The Indian captain didn’t look happy at all and had to walk off the field. More than the confusion, it was the brilliant fielding that cost the batter his wicket.

The Indian skipper surely didn’t want this sort of outing in his comeback game. Ever since he was recalled into the India side for the T20Is, many fans have criticized him a lot. The game was the perfect opportunity for him to silence all the critics.

Rohit Sharma now would be hoping to make a strong statement in the next two games. The series will be extremely crucial for him because there have been several reports that have suggested that his participation in the T20 World Cup 2024 will depend on the form he shows.

After a mix-up with Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill looked in great touch. The batter played some sensational strokes and got the crowd going. The right-hander played gorgeous drives and was looking to set up a big knock but he ended up giving his wicket.

Shubman Gill came down the track to smash Mujeeb ur Rahman out of the park. The bowler, however, knew that the batter would drag the length back. The batter swung across the line and they missed the ball completely.

Rahmullah Gurbaz behind the stumps stayed low with the ball and then broke the stumps to send the batter packing. Shubman Gill scored 23 runs off 11 balls but gave a blistering start to the team. His wicked left India tumbling at 28/2.
