Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been at his animated best in the ongoing third T20I against Afghanistan. The last game of the three-match series between the teams is taking place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Rohit Sharma has been busy on the crease right from the start in the game. While his shot-making has been nothing short of exceptional in the game, he too has been making sure that he doesn’t go easy on umpires for making wrong decisions in the game.
One of the incidents happened during the first over of the match. He got the strike on the second game and hit the ball down the leg side for four. Fareed Ahmad bowled a down-the-leg side ball to which he dispatched it towards the third-man boundary.
It seemed that 4 would be added in Rohit Sharma’s tally but umpire Virender Sharma adjudged the runs as leg-byes. This didn’t amaze Rohit Sharma as was confident that he hit the ball and four should’ve been given to him.
With the umpire giving it as a leg bye, it meant Rohit Sharma remained as 0. Looking at this, the Indian captain told umpire Virender Sharma that he hit the ball hilariously. He was caught saying on the stump mic:
“Arey viru, thigh-pad diya kya pehla four? Bat laga tha! (Hey Viru, did you signal for the thigh pad on the first four? I hit that with my bat!)”
Here’s the video:
Rohit Sharma to the umpire 😄👌
"Hey Viru, did you give the 1st ball as thigh pad – It clearly touched the bat. I have already dismissed for 0 twice". (Big smile) #INDvsAFGpic.twitter.com/Aoa0yyRvd2

Listening to this, commentators couldn’t control their laughter. Even umpire Virender Sharma admitted that he made a wrong decision. The incident left many in splits and the video of the incident went viral on the internet.
IND vs AFG: Rohit Sharma Slams His 5th T20I Century
Indian captain Rohit Sharma silenced all his critics in style with his knock in the third T20I against Afghanistan. When the team was reeling at 22/4, he stood tall for the team and made sure that he bailed his team out of trouble and helped them post a big total on the board in the last match of the series.
Rohit Sharma looked scratchy in his innings early on as the conditions looked tough. However, once he had his eye in, he took the game away from the opposition and made sure that he put his team in the dominating position in Bengaluru in the dead rubber.
Rohit Sharma slammed his 5th ton in the T20Is and ended with the knock of unbeaten 121 runs off 69 balls. He batted with a strike rate of 175.36 and slammed 11 fours and 8 sixes in his innings. His knock helped the team post a gigantic total of 212 runs on the board.
Apart from him, Rinku Singh (69*) played a blinder as well as India went past 200 runs, which at one stage looked impossible. With his century, he became the batter with most centuries in the shortest format of the game. He surpassed Suryakumar Yadav and Glenn Maxwell, who have four centuries each to their name.
